Elizabeth Boylan, CEO / Chief Creative Officer
Elizabeth began programming apps and games with the advent of mobile smartphone devices. After 5 years of developing and releasing a series of apps, she founded Big Top Ballet Inc. in 2013. As an artist with programming knowledge she ventures into C#, Unity game development.
Raised in culture rich Montreal, Quebec, she always loved drawing and the classical arts. Yet, before settling on a career in art, Elizabeth pursued a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with with electives in computer programming from St. Francis Xavier University and business studies at Lille’s IESEG in France. Surrounded by beautiful french architecture, she could barely resist cutting out of class to draw in her sketch book. It was that year living and traveling in Europe that ignited her conviction to pursue a career in the arts.
With her snowboard and suitcase in hand, she ventured from her roots in Montreal to the Canadian west coast to further her fine art studies at the acclaimed Emily Carr University of Art and Design. It was in Vancouver, where she also met her husband, John Borchert. A chance encounter with a programmer who now operates as Big Top Ballet’s Chief Technology Officer and Lead Developer.
John Borchert, Chief Technology Officer
John Borchert is Chief Technology Officer at Big Top Ballet Inc. Programming since he was 19, John created his first ‘Space Invader’ video game for fun. A deep thinker, often absorbed in research and experimentation, he guides Big Top Ballet’s game engine wizardry and mechanics as well independent games the duo have released under different titles.
Born and raised in Vancouver spending many of his days playing competitive tennis, he makes his home in Whistler, B.C. with his wife, Elizabeth. Where he is engineer, she is game architect. Together they work on the inner-dimensions of Big Top Ballet’s virtual game rooms and holographic spaces while raising their 10 year old daughter.
